Centrifugation medium made from polysucrose; density: 1.077 g/ml; for the isolation of lymphocytes
Product description
Our BioColl® separation solution contains neutral, highly cross-linked polysucrose with an average molecular weight of 400,000 Da. This hydrophilic polymer can be used to prepare aqueous solutions with different densities (up to about 1.2 g/ml), which are used for the isolation of cells or subcellular particles. The appropriate density of the BioColl® separation solution is selected depending on the particle type. A density of 1.077 g/ml is ideal for the isolation of lymphocytes. For optimal pH and osmolality values, the BioColl® separation solution should be adjusted with an acid (preferably amidotrizoic acid (ATS)) and sodium hydroxide solution.
Properties
- Density: 1.077 g/ml
- For the isolation of lymphocytes
- Aqueous solution of highly cross-linked polysucrose
Good to know
Cells (e.g. PBMCs) are isolated by so-called density gradient centrifugation. This physical process is based on the separation of macromolecules according to their sedimentation properties (size, weight) in a density gradient. The isolation of cells or subcellular particles is often the first step in diagnostic investigations, gene expression studies or in the production of antibodies.
