Human Serum Albumin Fraction V, lyophilised, 5 g
Albumins are monomeric proteins found in body fluids and tissues. Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma with a molecular weight of about 66.5 kDa.
Composition of human serum albumin
Human serum albumin lyophilised powder is > 98% pure according to agarose gel electrophoresis.
Application and properties of HSA
Due to the free hydrophobic regions, albumin is used to solubilise lipids and stabilise other proteins such as growth factors in tissue culture applications. Albumin has a low molecular weight, is readily soluble in water (50 mg / ml) and contains an excess of acidic amino acids.
