CHO medium serum-free

The CHO medium is a protein-free, ready-to-use medium for optimised growth of CHO cells (chinese hamster ovary) in suspension culture. CHO cells can usually be transferred directly from the serum-containing adherent culture into a protein-free suspension culture. It takes about 2 weeks for a stable suspension culture to develop.
Protein-free "ready-to-use" CHO medium:

    Lower risk of contamination.
    Easier and cheaper purification of the final products.
    High cell yield with excellent production rates of recombinant proteins.
    Due to the optimised composition of the medium, the cells hardly tend to aggregate and are present as a "single-cell suspension".

    Spinner cultures
    Roller bottles
    Tissue culture bottles
    Bio-reactors

 

CHO cells are widely used for the production of recombinant proteins for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.

The CHO medium consists of a balanced mixture of salts, amino acids, vitamins, trace elements, hormones and is enriched with a low concentration of selected plant hydrolysates for optimised growth of CHO cells in suspension culture.

The CHO medium is free of animal or human components and thus allows the use in sensitive production areas where legal regulations have to be observed (diagnostic or therapeutic use).
