DMEM/F-12 is a 1:1 mixture of Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) and Ham's F-12 (Ham's Nutrient Mixture F-12). DMEM/F-12 is characterized by a high content of vitamins, amino acids, and nutrients and is suitable for more demanding, differentiated, or primary cells such as epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and stem cells. The medium is used as a basal medium for the cultivation of a wide range of mammalian cells.
