RNase H is an endoribonuclease that specifically recognises and hydrolyses phosphodiester bonds between RNA-DNA hybrids.
Applications of RNase H
Degradation of mRNA - prior to synthesis of second strand cDNA
Degradation of RNA after first strand cDNA synthesis - RT-PCR and RT-QPCR
RNase H can be heat-inactivated (65 °C for 10 min).
