RPMI 1640 is primarily suitable for the cultivation of suspension cells such as blood and immune cells. It contains the reducing agent glutathione and high vitamin concentrations. This gives RPMI 1640 a wide range of applications for other cell types such as PBMC, MCF-7, HeLa, Jurkat, astrocytes, PC12, and carcinomas.
