GreenGel DNA/RNA Stain - The alternative to ethidium bromide
Advantages of GreenGel DNA/RNA Stain compared to ethidium bromide:
more convenient
more sensitive
safer
environmentally friendly
RedGel or GreenGel
If you have a blue light table order the GreenGel Stain, if you have a "normal" UV table (UV light of wavelength 312 - 365 nm) order the RedGel Stain.
The non-carcinogenicity of GreenGel DNA/RNA Stain has been proven in the Ames test. (The competitor materials described in the AMES-pdf are of course also available from Bio&SELL).
Information about the GreenGel DNA/RNA Stain
The Bio&SELL GreenGel DNA/RNA Stain is suitable for the (simultaneous!) staining of DNA (double and single stranded) as well as RNA and can be used in agarose as well as in polyacrylamide gels. The sensitivity is up to 4 times higher compared to ethidium bromide, so that quantities from approx. 0.1 ng DNA can be detected. The staining solution is added directly to the gel and the running buffer, so there is no need to decolourise after electrophoresis; this saves valuable time. The excitation of the GreenGel DNA/RNA Stain is done with blue light of 470 - 490 nm wavelength, the detection with SYBR® Green filters. A special feature are the two emission peaks of the dye: DNA bands become visible in green, RNA bands in red.
